| Ali Landry can perhaps be remembered as the American beauty queen who almost became Miss Universe. Born in Louisiana, Ali won the 1990 Miss Louisiana Teen USA, moving on as the representative of her state in the Miss Teen USA pageant of that year. Five years later, Ali was named Miss Louisiana USA, followed by her participation in the Miss USA 1996 beauty contest where she walked away with the grand prize. From there, she moved up to that year's Miss Universe where she garnered the highest score in the presentation portion, second after the interview part, but unfortunately fell at last place after the ultimate computation. Nevertheless, the experience gave Ali international exposure, and she wound up doing numerous commercial endorsements, modeling projects, and a few TV and film appearances. She became even more famous after appearing in several Doritos chips commercials which were broadcast during the Super Bowl games of 1998 and 1999. Ali is presently married to Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, a Mexican movie director whom she married in 2006. This was two years after her divorce from her first husband Mario Lopez. |
