|Amber Smith began as a young blonde American model in the Florida modeling circuit. Upon turning 16, she went to Paris and did modeling works in the European market but these were relatively small projects. The big break came to Amber when she decided to turn into a brunette, an act that made her a deadringer for film icon Rita Hayworth. This brought her immense popularity, and she consequently appeared in consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Magazine issues. Then came a stint with "Esquire" which named Amber as the 1990's Vargas Girl. Afterwards, she was signed by Wonderbra to be its first model. Cover page appearances for such magazines as Marie Claire, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and Vogue soon followed, such that when Amber went back to the US, she was armed with a voluminous portfolio. Playboy then got her services to be its cover model for its March 1995 edition. By 23, Amber had moved over to the movies, getting roles in such films as "The Mirror Has Two Faces" and "The Funeral". Particularly interesting were the roles given her in several films like "L.A. Confidential" where she played Susan Lefferts, a character that was supposed to look a lot like Rita Hayworth.||
