Her parents decided to name her after the wife of famous playwright English William Shakespeare, Anne reveals that she once wanted to be a nun, but decided to be an actress instead due to several disappointments in the Catholic beliefs. Her debut film was in the Disney movie Princess Diaries, where she played the role of a young and unwilling aristocrat opposite Julie Andrews. Her fresh face and performance endeared her to the young viewers, and her next films were also a hit in the box office. Her appearances in movies like Brokeback Mountain and Havoc prompted Disney to terminate their contract with the young actress because they felt that her roles are not fitting for a teen role model. However, Anne insists that being a role model can be stressful both personally and professionally as it limits one's roles.
