| Geri Halliwell, born Geraldine Estelle Halliwell on August 6 1972, is a British pop singer and songwriter aside from being a television personality and actress. Halliwell became famous as Ginger Spice in the late 1990s girl group the Spice Girls. Before her music career, Geri was a nightclub dancer in Mallorca, a model and presenter on the Let’s Make A Deal Turkish version, and a nude model as well. With stardom as part of Spice Girls nude photos of Halliwell were re published in a number of magazines including Club International in UK. Halliwell became famous as one of the five members of the girl group the Spice Girls and was called Ginger Spice. However, on the 30th of May 1998, Halliwell left the girl group and went solo. In 1999, Halliwell released her first solo album Schizophonic with lead single Look at Me. The single reached number two in the UK just 700 copies behind Boyzone’s You Needed Me. The single would sell over 1 million copies worldwide with the album Schizophonic enjoying sales of more than 2 million copies. Meanwhile, her remake of the song “It’s Raining Men,” which is part of her second album, was included in the soundtrack of the Renee Zellwegger film Bridget Jones’s Diary and in the popular video game DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution 7thMIX. She has become an ambassador for the UN, and she has gave birth to daughter Bluebell Madonna on May 14 2006. |
