| Gillian Leigh Anderson is an American actress, a Golden Globen and Emmy award winner. She is popular for her characters as FBI Agent Dana Scully in 'The X-Files' and as Lady Dedlock in 'Bleak House'. She went to Goodman Theater School of Drama at DePaul University where she got a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1990 and some summer sessions with the National Theatre of Great Britain at Cornell University. Before assuming the role of Agent Scully, Anderson was a struggling artist herself as she experienced not having a job for almost a year. She then did minor roles for movies. When she was cast as Agent Scully, she assumed that the X-Files would run for only thirteen episodes, the standard for American TV networks. Filmed in Vancouver, the series went on for nine seasons, and one film was made. Anderson won awards for being Agent Scully - a Golden Globe, an Emmy Award, and two SAG awards for Best Actress in a Drama Series. Meanwhile, she had roles in some films while being in X-Files and appeared in 'The House of Mirth', an adaptation of Edith Wharton's novel. Anderson wed Clyde Klotz, the assistant art director for The X-Files series. When she got pregnant, Chris Carter created a storyline about an alien abduction to keep Anderson off-screen for maternal reasons. Her daughter was born in 1994. Chris Carter was named the baby's godfather. |
