| One of the most popular and talented British actresses to make it to Hollywood, Helena Bonham Carter was born on May 26, 1966, and comes from a long line of politicians. She debuted as a professional actress in a local TV commercial and was given a minor and forgettable role in a film. However, she gave a breakthrough performance in 1985 for the well-received movie A Room With A View. Helena frequently appeared in Merchant-Ivory period films, which unfortunately caused her to be typecast as an "English Rose" or "Corset Queen" due to the nature of her roles and costumes. Fortunately, Helena was able to break out of the mould and expand her range, by appearing in mainstream films like Fight Club, Big Fish, Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and other animated films like Corpse Bride and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. She will next appear as Bellatrix Lestrange as part of the impressive ensemble cast of the much-anticipated Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix. Helena is currently in a serious relationship with known director Tim Burton. |
