| Katherine Moss, popularly known in the modeling world as Kate, was born on January 16, 1974 at Addiscombe, Croydon, England. Kate attended Ridgeway Primary School and Riddlesdown High School. She was not known for academic excellence but she eventually excelled in sports. Her modeling career went on track when she was 14 years old after she was spotted at JFK Airport from a Bohemian vacation. The 1990s was her banner decade as she became an extraordinary supermodel compared to her compatriots at that time: the likes of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell, who had curvaceous and slender figures. Kate popularized the waif look in 1993 when she launched a campaign for Calvin Klein and its perfume variety, Obsession. Aside from being a model, Kate has likewise won numerous awards in the field of fashion. Many people consider her as a trendsetter. In September 2005, the highly-acclaimed supermodel was involved in a cocaine scandal after British newspapers ran a front-page account of her allegedly taking the drug. The incident proved detrimental as Kate loss all her bookings and campaigns. But because of the statements of her friends and supporters, the case against her was dropped. |
