| Laura Dianne Vandervoort, more commonly known as just Laura Vanderwoort, is a Canadian actress that is recognized in American television series like Smallville, Instant Star, and ABC’s V. She was born on September 22, 1984 in Toronto, Canada. Unlike many girls her age, Vandervoort was very much into sports like baseball and basketball. At the age of sixteen, she was able to get her second degree black belt in the art of karate. Her first roles as an actress were always a part of an ensemble cast, such as in Goosebumps and “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” As she grew older, Vandervoort found herself starring in commercials and having cameo appearances on other television series. Like many teen stars, she also worked as an actress for Disney. It was only in 2006 when Vandervoort starred in her first feature film, The Lookout, along with acclaimed artists such as Isla Fisher and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It wasn’t until she joined Smallville that Dianne Vandervoort became a household name. |
