Biography, pictures and video galleries
|It is rare for a celebrity to be descended from royalty. In the case of Leelee Sobieski, she descended from a monarch of Poland known as John III Sobieski. Her father appeared sparsely in Italian and French Western films. Given her background, she grew up in a very artistic environment and was raised watching Shakespeare productions and visiting art galleries. The band Nine Days also named their song "LeeLee" after her. During her early years in the business, she made her debut in the apocalypse-themed film "Deep Impact" and as the modern version of the Lolita in the film "Eyes Wide Shut." Her mastery of the French language also landed her a number of roles in France's movie industry, including a 2003 miniseries based on the classic novel "Dangerous Liaisons." However, her most prominent film role is likely as the legendary French heroine Joan of Arc, in the made-for-TV film of the same name. Her remarkable resemblance to Helen Hunt has also been documented (and parodied) in the past.||
