| Ling Bai, who has a history in China that cannot seem to be independently verified, is one of the very few Chinese actresses to have made an impressive career in Hollywood. Most of her biographical details (such as signing up for the People's Liberation Army, being involved in the Tiananment Square incident, and being a scholar sent by the Chinese government) are impossible to ascertain, which has caused a degree of controversy about her. She also once stated that she had an important role in "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" deleted due to a photo shoot with Playboy magazine, though George Lucas claimed that the scene was cut before the issue came out and that Ling only had a minor, unimportant role. Nonetheless, she is yet to establish her mark in the mainstream, even with her appearances in some films. Her first Hollwood role came in the form of a minor villain in "The Crow," the last film of Brandon Lee, son of the legendary martial arts master, Bruce Lee. She also made a risque appearance in VH1's show "But Can They Sing?" and was ranked one of the sexiest people alive, according to People magazine, back in 1998. |
