| Shania Twain, born Eilleen Regina Edwards on August 28, 1965 in the quaint town of Windsor, Ontario, has been one of Canada’s most successful acts since her best selling album Come on Over. But the road to stardom has also never been easy even for such a stellar performer such as Shania. Having been actively present on the music industry since 1993, it was only in 1997 when she achieved worldwide recognition for her album entitled Come on Over. Having sold a whopping 172,00 copies out of the box, her effort was primarily perceived as futile given the number of copies sold by her first album. However, her 1997 album slowly gained public interest and was soon making more money compared to her last offering. The same album is also acknowledged as the biggest-selling album of all time by a female artist and also earned the title as the best-selling album in the history of country music. As if these acknowledgements weren’t enough, Shania Twain was also declared as the only female artist to have three albums that were certified Diamond by the RIAA. Moreover, she has concurrently earned five Grammy awards plus almost forty BMI Songwriter awards. |
