Born Sheryl Suzanne Crow on February 11, 1962, in Kennett, Missouri, she had since then displayed tremendous interest and promising talent on the realm of music. Her family cultivated her innate passion for music since her parents were part of a local big band in which her father, who is also an attorney, played the trumpet. It also helped that their family owned three pianos. Sheryl Crow was quite active in the school choir, school plays, and athletics all at the same time. She finished her academics in 1984 from the University of Missouri, where she majored in music education with a concentration on piano. Crow moved in to Los Angeles in 1986 where she pursued her dreams of being a musician. By 1990, she received the attention of A&M Records which released her first album. Crow faced intermittent bouts of depression through the course of her career, but these same low episodes fueled most of her award-winning songs.||
