Thandie Newton - Biography, pictures and video galleries
| Cambridge-educated Thandie Newton, who was born in Zambia, Africa on November 6, 1972, has half-British, half-Zimbabwe roots. She appeared on her first film "Flirting" in 1990 as a student from Uganda in period Australia who fell in love with a white guy, stirring much criticisms in the process, which proved to be helpful as an official entry to Hollywood. However, Newton chose not to chase the spotlight seriously, she even took a break to earn her Social Anthropology degree from Cambridge University. True enough, it is hard to refuse stardom when it is consistently knocking at your doors and so Newton decided to give in, doing projects like "The Young Americans" and "Interview with the Vampire". Her other notable projects include "The Leading Man" with Jon Bon Jovi, "Beloved" with Oprah Winfrey, "Mission: Impossible 2" with Tom Cruise, "The Chronicles of Riddick" with Vin Diesel and "The Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith. |
